The Dublin City Council gave approval to Summer Hill Homes to initiate a General Plan and Eastern Dublin Specific Plan amendment for Parcel 2. In addition the staff was directed to continue the General Plan Amendment and Eastern Dublin Specific Plan Amendment Study for Parcel 3 and Parcel 4. Parcels 2, 3 and 4 are located just north of Gleason Rd. and run all the way to 580.Councilman Gupta was the only dissenting vote. He said “ If we continue to build homes on land previously zoned for retail, we would be severely limiting Dublin’s economic potential as a city,” In the last year, the developer has come to us three times, each time with slightly more retail. We have to continue the fight for a project that is balanced with sufficient space zoned for commercial and fits seamlessly with what we have already built in the area.”Many Dublin Ranch residents are opposed to the building of more homes. They prefer that the land remain zoned as retail.
